Started my engine on the run stand today and realized the water pump
is making a lot of noise! The numbers on the pump are 330 818 and D182. Two questions Is this the original pump and if it is does anyone make a rebuild kit for it?
thanks
If you want to keep your original pump there is a fellow in New York (and some others) who rebuild original pumps. It depends how important originality is to you. I used him ,but I'm very, very sick, in a good way. Arthur Gould.
Regards,
Alan
Corvette Restoration Guide says 1978-1982 water pumps have casting no. 330818. The D182 is the date code with A being January and B February and so on. The second character is one or two numbers denoting the day and this is followed by a single number denoting the year.
Also according to this book: All 71 and 72 sb's assembled through the end of May 1972 use casting no. 3991399. SB's assembled after May 1972 use casting no. 330813.
Be sure that it is 330818 and not 330813. I am thinking that the D182 is April 1, 1982 but I guess it could be April 18, 1972 if you have 330813. If it is 330813 I think that it could be the original.
I've use Kanter in Boonton, NJ to rebuild mine. They did it right and gave me a lifetime warranty. Don't recall the price they charged, but I remember that it was very reasonable.
I had Arthur Gould rebuild the pump on my 72 at the recommendation of several Forum members. It turned out real nice and for about the same cost as an off the shelf rebuilt pump. Check them out first.
