Power steering fluid
Working on a freinds 76 coupe. Changing power steering lines and it appears someone was using transmission fluid. I know this is quite common in newer cars. My question is should I continue using this or change it back to GM power steering fluig. Dave

Transmission fluid is cheaper and red in color. PS is clear and a bit higher in price. Either will work. I understood the different color is to identify the cause of possible or potential leaks. The last statement may be incorrect. But either will work in an emergency or more likely full ti,me....

I always recommend that you use genuine GM power steering fluid.

PS fluid is designed for the PS system. Tranmission fluid is designed for transmissions.
