I have a late 77 non CA. Received my engine vacuum hose kit from Zipps. Quick question; there is a short red hose in the package. I don't see a red hose on mine. Any ideas where it should go? This is the engine vacuum hose kit. Thanks for your help. Put my carb on last night, so after I change the hoses out I should be able to crank her up. Just in time for spring. Thanks again..
I would just use the process of elimination. Swap one at a time after matching them and see what's left after you're done. It could be for a different eng, i.e., L48/L82, or for a CA. car. This is typical as the manufacturer probably makes one kit per year, which is much easier than stocking 3 or 4 kits for each year.

Call Zipp. Don't they supply you with a hose diagram? Some vendors are so obsessed with making money that they forget about the customer. How can they sell you a bunch of hoses and not tell you where they go? Suppose you are doing a rebuild and there are no hoses present? Or what if the PO put the hoses on incorrectly?

You have a point there. No, I didn't get a vacuum diagram with the hose kit. I do have a vacuum diagram from this site, and all the hoses seem to be correct. I was just going to change them out because of age. I just don't see a solid red hose. I am assuming it goes to an exhaust item that I probably don't have on my particular set up. Maybe there are so many different variations, that it isn't possible to list them all. Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone was familiar with the short red hose. Thanks for the reply.
