Default 1968 Front End

I am restoring my 1968. As those who have had one they have a problem with stress at the bottom of the hood on both sides just above the head lights. It has caused the paint to crack and actually caused come glass damage. In 69 they reinforced this area. Does anyone know of any kit or procedure to reinforce the 68 vette? I would like to address this before I get the car painted.

Thanks,

You can buy the parts for a 69 and install them to add the extra support.
Available from most good vendors.
I did it to mine when I was getting rid of the rivet bumps.

I have that rod to the centre of the nose but the 69 up reinforcements are on the sides and bolt the header bar to the inner guards.

Interested, too. My March 68 build has the same problem. the cracks have opened up and some fiberglass has started to fall out on both sides

I think what was added after 68 were 2 re-inforcements. #3954523-4.
These are shown on age UPC11, Sheet A11 in the 71 AIM. Item #4.
Regards,
Alan
