Default 2004R manual wiring

How do I install the toggle S/W to control when I want the TCC to lockup. I have a 72 with the BTO wiring kit and the TCC locks up in 3rd and 4th and at times the engine chugs. I disconnected the transmission at the brake switch today and liked the performance much better.

You have the power to the wrong pin. There is a pin to lock up 3rd and fourth that should be on a toggle switch for towing only, and another pin that should have power at all times (through the brake switch) which will lock up fourth only. If you continue to run without lock-up, the transmission will burn up rather quickly and BTO will not warranty it. Their instructions are fairly clear and their tech people will help you get it right. CALL THEM! God bless, Sensei

I'm just curious as to why you need that switch? I realize that it allows you to turn OFF the TCC when you want...but why do you need to?

I have found that if you are cruisin down th highway and come up to an area that I am forced to slow down I can hit the switch instead of downshifting to momentartilly unlock the convertor. If I don’t, the trans causing the motor to chug until it gets back up to speed. Cars that came from the factory with OD use the computer to handel this job. GM sets it so the trans won’t lockup in OD until you are above 40mph.
There is a better solution,B&M shift control
