What's wrong with Headman's product for side pipes? are they that bad? One says yes, other says no problems. I know Stahl is an option but at over twice the cost? and one person said he had a serious issue dealing with them over a fitting problem. thanks for any imput.
I installed them on my 80. Absolutely easiest install I've ever done. If you're looking for a product to go racing Stahl has a great reputation. For every day street use buy the Hedman.
Good luck
Hedman are very good budget headers, I have a set on my 383 stroker, they were inexpensive and good quality although they missed a spot on the weld, but that was a 10 sec. fix at a bud's place. It all depends on what you want them for, Hooker are a notch up in quality, and Stahl above that. I will be changing from the Hedmans to either Hooker or Stahl this spring as I do some mods to the engine and will need larger tubes.
another question can I get away with the uncoated ones for 300 less since I will want to trade up to stahl in a year or so anyway. or will they put off too much heat?

That should be an easy answer. Save your money and buy the "end result" when ya got the money!!!!
It would be if I didn't have a 425HP SB coming next to swap for my L-48 I don't want to hook that up to the old stock manifolds. So after the costs of the Engine, March kit, and BTO 2004r l2. Like the federal government I am into deficet spending but unlike the Gov. I can't keep printing money. I've got an Idea maybe I could get a Gov. grant to study the how impact of Corvette enthusist's spending on the national economy and how extra tax breaks for us would go right back into the economy thus heading of a ression.

LEECH will even come into your casket LEECH some more money off
you so your kids can't get it.
I've been running the Hedman side exit headers on the race car for several years now. The car performs fine with them. I did wrap them with header wrap. They've gotten banged around a bit with several off course excursions and still are holding up well. Stahls or Hookers would be nice but it's easier to take banging up a set of Hedmans rather than the high dollar headers.
They are really inexpensive. I think I paid $180 for mine. As far as I can tell they were of good quality. Had mine Jet-Hot ceramic coated.
No problem with fitting really. Even though my ZZ4 exhaust ports are a little higher than the original engine, the headers still cleared the frame. One of the tubes was about 3/8 inch underneath the grease nipple on the idler arm. Replaced the grease nipple with a 90 degree unit and slightly dimpled the header tube so the grease gun would fit.
