Default Problem with hypercoil composite spring

Well after going with the composite after mixup with my new diff cover, I now have a new problem. I also got new bolts and a new plate to matchup with the 77prior cover and now the bolts wont line up with the holes in the cover. It seems that the new spring is just a smidge too wide causing the bolts to flare out missing the holes. I was wondering if anyone else had this issue. I believe I can take a dremel and notch out the plate sandwiching the spring enough to clear. Man it sure would be nice though for someone to make parts that actually mate up without modifiing them.

You must have the 2 1/2 wide spring used on 1978 and 1979 models. 77 and older use the 2 1/4" spring.

I thought of that but the composite springs should work on both and the box said 68-82.
