Default Distributor rebuilt by Lars(what a difference)

I finally got a chance to play now that I have my distributor back in and what a difference having the right curve set up. Lars went through the thing and fixed it up for performance. He even stuck in a motor and checked it out before he shipped back to me. In this day and age it is hard enough to find someone that knows what they are doing besides having it fixed right the first time.

Thanks again Lars

Brian -
Great to hear that the setup is running good for you! Courtesy of "blkblt" on the C1/C2 Forum, I ran your distributor in his '66 427/435hp car, and the setup made your distributor run equal to or better than his TI ignition setup. It was tempting to keep your distributor in his car and tell you that I never received it from you.... :blueangel:

For those of you just joining this topic, Brian's distributor had an aftermarket electronic conversion in it. The advance slot was far too short, and there were other issues with the advance curve setup. We yanked the e-conversion out, corrected a couple of mechanical issues, and set the distributor up for a quick advance producing 36 degrees of total advance with an aggressive 18-degree initial advance. Topped it off with a 16-degree vacuum advance control unit and a good set of points, and Brian's distributor ended up with some awesome performance and throttle response on "blkblt's" 427. Glad to see the performance was duplicated on the "home" engine...!

The sad part is how few there are left, 67Heaven. When I was in Sidney, BC, there was only one local garage who could consistently set up a carb to my satisfaction. Most "mechanics" are now "technicians" which is grease-monkey lingo for a parts swapper, far as I can tell!

Lars just set mine up in much the same way. I'm looking forward to getting it installed and tried out :)

You guys make it awfully tempting to send my distributer to Lars. I always read great things about his work. Sounds like quite the "artist"
Lars keep up the good work.
I may send a carb and a distributor. Hmmmm

I am one of the type of guy's that like to work on my own stuff. Have found that somethings are best left to the people with the right equipment and expertise to do it right the first time. Sending a part to someone you don't know is not an easy thing to do but in this case it was a very good decision
Thanks
Lars
keep up the good work :seeya

Hi, Guys :seeya

I just happened on this post and thought I would send a quick "greets" and post a pic of the test bed engine used on your distributors..... :D Actually, it isn't a 427/435hp, but rather a modified L72 427....not that it makes any difference. Lars uses it as a test bed engine for many of his carb and distributor builds....there is NO ONE else I would even remotely trust to do something like this. He is indeed "Da Man", and, like Lars, I am glad to be able to contribute in helping out Forum folks this way. :yesnod: :yesnod:

BTW...Lars was right. He dropped in the first of the two distributors (Redwingvettes's, I think), and the Silver Beast fired and ran up better than the "correct" TI system in her!! WTF!!?!!

 to all! And beers to Lars.......

Hey blkblt -
You let longhaired hippie freaks like that work on your car...??!

Yes, that is indeed Redwingvette's distributor being tested in the photo - I forgot you were snapping some shots while we were doing that.

An interesting fact for our Forum members: Do you know it takes 4 beers to properly test a Corvette distributor? Two for me and two for blkblt. For this reason, you can only test 4-5 distributors in one testing session....

Be aware that I stopped doing distributor repair, setup and tuning about 8 years ago.
