Hey all,
I had cylinder #1 at TDC before i took the heads, timing chain, and cam out. But my dad decided to rotate the engine over, for one reason or another. So i still have the timing chain, heads, and cam out, but #1 is not at TDC.
So what is an easy, idiots guide to getting it back to tdc when i put the timing chain and cam back in, i dont want to put it at tdc of the exhaust stroke is the problem. Cheers,
Steve

If the cam is out, there is no "exhaust" or "compression" TDC. Just bring the #1 up to TDC and you're there. The exhaust/compression stroke is determined once the cam and gears go in: You align the crank and cam dots so they both point straight up at the 12-o'clock position (NOT towards each other) to get the engine at TDC on compression.
