Before removing the hood, scribe a line around the hinge that attaches to the hood. Then when you replace it, it will go back on right. Be carefull when reinstalling. If you can't find your scibe marks do to painting, the hood might scrape due to the clearances. You could run tape on the body & hood to prevent damage.
scribe or use marker as stated above around the hinges on the hood. unless you have experience i recommend having someone helping undo one side as you do other. theres not much room for movement and its too easy to chip paint. i will slip a thin towel in between before loosening and that seems to work for me. good luck
I use a very short drill bit and drill thru the hinge into the hood. I use a #30 drill (about 1/8") and then when I reinstall the hood I can start the bolts, then slip a pop rivet into the holes I drilled. Puts the hood back on in exactly the same position it was, everytime.

I have never understood this logic. Why do you need to mark anything at all?? You have 4 bolts, two on each side. You remove them, take off the hood, put the hood back, put the bolts back. The holes don't move.
I've taken my hood off a bunch of times, and put it back on. Either I'm lucky everytime, or people are overcomplicating things.

Your pretty damn lucky then, cause the holes in the hindges are much larger than the bolts and the hood will shift all around with them loose.
I use a little chalk dust blown around the hinges before I remove them. Leaves a nice imprint of the hinge plates on the hood to use when I reinstall. Also avoids the scratches associated with using an awl.
