Default bypass fuel regulator

Can anyone give me a recomendation (part #) for a bypass type fuel regulator to be used with a mechanical fuel pump feeding a single fuel port carb (Q-Jet). Seems most regulators either state "not to be used with a mechanical pump" or dont mention it at all.

Mallory part#4309. I used it with a Q-Jet for years and never had an issue. It also has a vacuum compensation port you can use to increase fuel pressure as vacuum drops. I switched to a Demon and it is still in use.

If you're using the correct mechanical pump why would you also need a regulator?

I'm using a Barry Grant 17021 bypass, with my qjet and Edelbrock mechnical pump. I originally tried to use the factory 1/4 return line, but found it was to small to return enough fuel to keep to pressure down to six pounds.
