there super street comes with dart pro 1 heads, will my 427 hooker super comp headers work and clear, and will my valve covers fit( i had them notched out to fit ) bolt on, thanks
Dart heads are raised somewhat. Might be tight and require a dimple or two. My Brodix heads' ports are raised .600 and the Hooker 2-1/8" Super Comps actually seem to fit better on them than they do on stock heads. Look closely around your headers and envision raising them up a 1/2". Usually right side is fine and the left side gets tight by the sterring box and the #3 tube and sometimes around clutch crosshaft.
I just stuffed my 540 with dart pro1 heads in my 69 with hooker super comp side exhaust.
You will have to dent at the lower LH frame rail and the #3 plug is a big pain the a$$ you will have to dent in the tube to get the plug to fit and spark plug boot to work.
Also the pipe near the steering box will need to be dented up a little higher to help clear.
All in all it will fit but will take a little extra work.
I ran tall valve covers cause I have a full roller setup and needed the room and it all just cleared with only minor adjustments made to the factory brackets
Markus is advising you correctly. I had 1-7/8 headers on my 540 and they were definitely strangling it. You should run 2 inch primary tubes if you can.
