Default Auto shift **** removal

I can get the push button and spring out by unscrewing it. I cant get the shift ball to move though, does it screw on or wedge on? I am trying to find out before I get a bigger hammer. I am thinking Bubba may have glued it on.....

From the pic in the AIM it looks like the top of the shifter is threaded where the ball goes but I cant get this thing to budge, if I put pliers on it I am going to ruin it.

Yeah it's threaded and is probably just stuck. Mine was stuck too. Use one of those grip sheets you use to unscrew hard jar lids.

The [upper] chrome release button is threaded, too. Unscrew it, remove the spring under it, then unscrew the black ****.

I used a rubber jar grip opener and a monkey wrench.

rubber strap wrench, no go, wrapped it in a cloth and used a pair of channel locks, no go. Pipe wrench - first time! 18 bucks for a new one!

Does that mean it broke and you have to buy another? If so, that sucks.

Yet ANOTHER receipt/delivery that "she who must be obeyed" must not find.

Hey, I've got an idea, put all the receipts under the new carpet on the passenger side. It serves two purposes - it will be sort of like the re-build build sheets and gives a nice deep/soft/comfy padded floor for your passenger. Sorry, couldn't resist....

She's just ready for it to be on the road. I am leaving some "collector" beer bottle caps here and there in it though....
