Tremec Install
I will be heading to Ohio in a couple weeks for the summer. Once I get a few house projects done I will be installing a Tremec. For those of you that have not done the auto to 5-speed swap you can see from the pictures that there are lots of parts and pieces. I got the complete kit from Kevin at Vettesbydesign. Everything is new, except for the pedal assembly which has been rebuilt and the drive shaft which has been shortened plus new u-joints added. I added the console trim plate to the purchase while I was at it since I was going to have to buy one anyways. I will be adding side pipes while I am doing the swap so pulling the old exhaust off will give me more working room. Bought the rear exhaust filler panel during my last trip to Ecklers so I guess I will be breaking out the paint gun also.
Thanks BB72,and thank you Bill for posting.I need all the help that I can get being the "new kid" on the block!
I haven't even seen pics of everything together.Red 71,and bahamasair were my first 2 customers!And...Bill is a super nice guy to talk to,and to deal w/.I just can't wait to hear how the pedal install goes!
I did source a bunch more driveshafts, and about 5 more pedal assy until my brother-in-laws get my pedals made.
Thanks again,Bill.I do need all the help that I can get.I did my best to make my kits priced very competitive, and make them complete.hell...I even threw in a few things that weren't listed w/the kits.

I had hoped to possibly get the pedals installed before leaving for Ohio but I need to do some roof work on one of my buildings so I better not get too many things going. I will make sure I look up the number of a good chiropractor before I start. Us old gray beards don't recover from bending and twisting as easily as we did years ago. It will be fun.
On another forum they said that the yokes on the tremecs/kieslers had a fault in it, which made it impossible for the U-joint to seat completly. It could cause a vibration.
Maybe you want to check this out once you're there.

I had not heard of any problems with the yokes. Mine is not a Keisler, I bought my setup from Vettesbydesign. But just to be sure I went ahead and put the yoke and driveshaft together and it seats correctly.
I also will take the earlier advice and remove the seat when it is pedal time!

I never heard that one before either. I certainly do not any vibrations from mine.

Funny....I work at Keisler and I haven't heard that one either. Sounds like
Anyways...I didn't come into this thread to get into a debate.
This thread is about Red 71 and his new 5 speed kit. Very
It looks like you'll have your work cut out for you when you get to Ohio. Don't worry, the worst part of the whole swap is getting the pedals installed. You really need to check out Binnie 77's write up, he did a fantastic "how to" write up and documented the entire process.
Good luck and just remember all the cursing that goes into working on cars will be rewarded the 1st time you get it out on the highway and grab 5th gear.

I have already read Binnie 77's writeup. I appreciate the time others have spent documenting their projects. Taking the time to read these writeups sure can save time and in many cases can save money.
