Installed new dash.
Reinstalled the speedo & Tach and plugged in accordingly.
Also installed a new lightswitch.
When I turn on the lights, there's no dash lights coming on. Is it because my center console bezels are not installed yet ?
I need to know before goin' further....
I would start with the fuse. Also make sure the switch is turned to the left for brighter dash lights. It shouldn't make a difference that the center is still out.
On my 75 there is printing just below each fuse telling what it is. On mine the shortest fuse is for the dash lights, a 5 amp. If you have a test light, turn on the lights then test on each side of every fuse till you find the bad one.
I got our PM and came looking for the thread. As mentioned above the fuse panel should have the fuse positions labeled. I seem to remember the dash lights being on the same circuit as the clock and cig lighter.
I wish I were better at these electrical gremlins. I have a big one of my own that's really starting to frustrate me. Sorry I can't be of more help.
You want to check the 20 amp guages fuse and the 20 amp CTSY-CLK fuse. The important one is the instrument LPS fuse (this is the fuse the instument lights are powered through). Its 7.5 amp and at the top of the board.

There is a website that has the GM electric diagrams for 1980 Corvettes. I've tried searching and can't find it. Hopefully someone here has the link saved and can post it.
