Im removing the diff and figure I would do it with the crossmember. Everything is unbolted, but when I lowered the jack holding it up it stayed secured. Does the crossmember often stick? What is the best way to separate it?

Spray with PB Blaster and let soak. Use a 2 lb hammer , and with low impack hits, hit around where the crossmember is attached. Then a small crow bar may help. Took me a couple of days of spraying and hitting, then it fell off. Don't beat on it , just low impack blows, will do the job.
You may also consider using a gear puller if the pry bar method does not work. My crossmember popped off without too much effort. Be advised: leave the bolts semi-threaded on the crossmember and to keep a jack under the differential when doing this. Good luck.
I just took mine off this weekend. I sprayed it down with PB Blaster everyday this week when I got home and then Saturday morning I used a crowbar (from wheel well) and it popped off just using my body weight, no hitting, pounding, etc.
I would suggest using the other methods before the puller. Most times it won't be a problem but it could loosed the spot welds on the sombero and that could lead to other issues.
The bar usually works or wedges.
as much as i liked using the gear puller, it did have its downsides, like GTR mentioned.
this happened yesterday when i pulled mine off with the gear puller.
i dont think any amount of pushing or prying was going to break it free though.
