alternator wiring
Why is it the small things that cause so much problems? Anyway checking all the wiring on my new stroker install. Bubba, I guess didnt think the Generals alternator wire plug with the bayonet clip was a good way to secure the wires to the alternator so he removed it. I now have a pink wire and a brown wire that attach to the 2 terminals on the alternator. I have a 50-50 chance of actually getting this right, and the way things have been going......well. Does anyone have a picture of the plug with the wire orientation?, or if you are looking at the plug with the bayonet fitting on the top which wire is on the right? Mine is an 80, but Im thinking that the plug orientation is the same for all years with like alternators. Thanks in advance

On my '80 the thicker wire (Looks like its red) is on the right side of the plug and the thinner wire (Brown) is on the left, thats looking at it from the drivers side of the car forward. Clear ? I hope . Peace,,,Moosie

I state it by referance to looking at from the rear, the red is the MOST CLOCKWISE wire and is allways hot, the brown is a switched hot run EITHER through a red dash light called alt/gen/bat OR in many sharks for some reason there is a resistor wire instead, part of the harness, and subititutes for the light bulb....
