WTF give us a little more info. What engine, what carb. How did you make it richer.WHen did it start doing this.DId you buy it that way,or just started doing this.
75 l48 350 all stock exept edlbrock performer manifold with stock qjet and 2 1/2 inch true dual to twochambered flowmasters.
This just started happening, on deceleration. I made the carb richer with the dial on the passanger side of the carb It reduced it but not much. Could the carb be screwed up or the ingnition/ timing.
This weekend I am going to change the plugs, the ones on the engine have only about 2,000mls on them.
The dial on the passenger side of the carb is the choke adjustment. That should have no affect with the engine warm. It enriches only when the engine is cold. If the choke isn't fully open when the engine is at operating temperature, readjust it so it is.
When you say it is backfiring, do you mean it is popping back through the carburetor, or it is popping out the tailpipes??
Some popping is even nice on a performant high comp engine and i think is not that dramatic at all, the V8 of my M3 (which is one of the most technological advanced engines on the market and with a very complicated electronics) pops when i release the throttle from 7/8.000 rpms at speed...but it doesnt back fire.
Ok guys,,, there have been times when you did not know things...
The dial on the side is the electric choke. Set it to be open when motor is warm and leave it. Check the timing, it will slip sometimes. Then take it to a club tech day. This is the kind of thing those guys love. Don't belong to a club, there are a lot of choices. They all have someone whou lives and breathes Chevy motors. They are all the same.. just a 350 chevy.
