Default Specific C.R. Question

Can anyone tell me what the static compression ratio would be putting some '70 LT1 heads on a '71 stock bottom end? (I'm not looking for other advice on cams or other heads...just interested in that specific setup.) If someone has actually done it, I'm interested in the results.

Assuming you have 76cc stock heads and will be replacing them with 64 cc heads, your compression goes from 8.25:1 up to 9.25:1 assuming a stock head gasket thickness of .026". If you use the Fel Pro 1094 head gasket at .015" thick, you can increase SCR to 9.5:1.

Should make for a nice snappy running motor.

Thanks, Scott. That's exactly the info I was requesting. Sounds like that combo...with a little more cam...would make a 'lively' set-up with pretty good street manners, and still run well on pump gas. While it wouldn't be totally 'original', only the experts would be able to recognize the difference.
