That's a lot of compression for flat top pistons.

I noticed it had forged 'cranks' - that's what my problem is, I only have one crank!

Also noticed a link to dyno sheets, how can you have a dyno sheet off a short block?

They had to punch that block .040 over to get 410ci out of it, so they'd better have a great reputation for building big inch small blocks. You'll need a small base circle cam, which is no biggie, but you'd better double check the rotating clearances. Really, if you want to build a big inch engine you ought to start with a Little M or World block. You don't want to cheap this.

Not really. My 383 with flatops and 64 cc heads would be over 11 to 1. I used 70 cc heads and am at 10.4 to 1. More stroke and bigger bore squeezed into the same space = higher compression. I would call and ask about the internals. What brand crank, rods, pistons, rod bolts, caps, is it line bored, torque plate honed, what are the clearances, what type of bearings, are the mains studded or ARP bolts? Are the cam bearings installed and brand? I would have a lot of questions for that kind of money for a fully forged short block.

I think you should buy one and let us know how it works out.

For me the 90 day warranty only covers the time it take to reach here.

I think the best deal going right now is the $3K 350 with 400+hp/400+tq from YearOne. The bonuses are the roller cam and the vortec heads that accept higher lift.

Good Morning All,

I am Brandon with ATK HP Engines. Jonathan (Shirley) we appreciate your interest in our products. I apologize for not giving you the answer you were looking for, but had you been more descriptive in what you were looking for I would have gladly helped. You had asked for the brand and part # of the kits, I unfortunately can’t give out part #'s to our build sheets....otherwise we would be out of business.... If I could give them most of them are Proprietary numbers and you wouldn’t be able to find them. However if you were to of asked the questions that 63MAKO posted, I would have been glad to answer them.

For the most part we stick with SCAT rotating assemblies, if they cannot get them to us quick enough or don’t have what we want than we will go to other brands or piece it together ourselves. The scat kit will come with a Forged Crankshaft, H Beam Rods and for the most part JE or Mahle Forged Pistons and ARP Rod Bolts. The main bearings are King Bearings and we do install the Cam Bearings using Durabond Bearings. The blocks are torque plate honed, and line bored. The Bearing clearances are about 2.5 thousands and I would have to check the piston to wall clearance.

As most know the 400ci shortblock had a good and a bad reputation. Few know that the bad reputation part was proven to be a myth. Mis matched parts; the wrong cylinder heads etc brought many to believe that it had overheating issues. Any truly good performance builder will tell you different. The 400ci engine is a great motor as long as you use the proper parts. Using a Dart Block is always a better choice, if you can afford it. You do not have to worry about the steam holes with them and they have many more benefits.

The 410ci is a great shortblock. Anything over 500hp I would say jump to a Dart Block, but if your looking for a 450hp performer with gobs of torque that is affordable, this is your best bang for your buck. We can upgrade to a Dart Block as well, we deal with them on a regular basis. We can build any engine to your spec for the most part. What we list is just more of our common builds that customers seem to purchase the most of.

The warranty is only a 90 Day warranty which starts 15days after the engine is shipped. Being only a shortblock and us not completing the build, we don’t know what’s going to be done with it, who’s building it or how it was installed/tested. However our Long Blocks-Stage 3 Engines have a 2 year unlimited mileage warranty....Everything up to our 598+ci engines!

As for our reputation, Mark Johnson is our main builder. He has a HUGE reputation in the business. He was with Rherr & Morrison for over 20 years and was responsible for many of there engine builds, development programs and numerous IHRA and NHRA racing championships. When I attend the PRI/ SEMA/ Good Guys shows or talk to racers...I’m amazed with what they have to say about him. We also have another highly qualified builder from Rherr which we took as well.

Our reputation as a whole is even more impressing being the largest engine remanfacturer in the world. The last few years we have gotten Engine builders of the year awards, customer service awards etc from Frost & Sullivan.

As far as the website goes, it’s still new and we don’t have access to make the changes, a company does that for us. Unfortunately we are still finding errors that they have made lol.

If anyone has any questions, im happy to help you with anything that I can. I will try and answer them to the best of my ability.

Hope you all have a good day and good luck with your projects!

BTW....Year One buys alot of there engines from us

Thanks!

We have a big advantage over our competitors being how big we are. In our normal remanufactured line we sell about 750+ engines a week. Our High Performance division has grown dramatically....Started about 2 years ago doing about 5-10 a month, now were doing about 50! On top of that we are going to open a high end speed shop here in our Dallas location and setup a online store to compete with Summit and Jegs. Lots to come from us!

Like I said, if there is anything I can help you guys with, just let me know.

That is the news that I want to hear . I just spent close to 5K in the last 3 weeks buying parts from Jegs when I would rather buy it from a local store.

When will it be opening I know a lot of local folks here in dallas that will be looking for you guys also.

Please fill me in...
