Rear suspension info
Bottom line is that I couldn't be more pleased. I love the new handling dynamics, and the sudden over correction and swerve problems I was having are gone. It took about six days to do all the work, so I'm probably a fool for even considering doing the rear end.
I've heard that people have had problems with the monospring, after market replacements offered by most parts distributors. If I redo the rear end, I want to consider trading the heavy rear leaf spring for one of these monospring options. I'd like to know if anyone has been please or disappointed with their monospring before I spend $300 - $400 on one. Thanks.
AS i mentioned i did this 13 yrs ago and the result is a VAST improvement on the old leaf steel type. The ride has not got the harshness as before, and i can even play around with different spring tensions. I do recommend having the adjustable ver though, as there are different spring strengths to choose from and the only way to choose one is to go by a recommendation from someone else while hoping that there perception of ride is the same as yours. You cannot compare a steel version strength with a fibreglass mono strength as they have totally different dynamics, this is my observation from my steel spring mined you.
One point i would like to make is, the shocks are going to need changing but do not go for shocks that are designed for vettes with steel springs, they behave wrong, the valving is different as a steel version compensate for the extra friction of the leafs.
When i did mine the mono leaf was a new thing and i could not get the correct shocks as you can now, i got round that problem by using adj shocks but even then i returned them to the manufacturers for re-valving because there was still not enough adjustment...but you will need some appropriate shocks.

I'm happy with mine.
