Hey guys..I'm hoping someone can help me with this problem. I have a 70 L46 with 82k miles. If I accelerate hard from a standstill blue smoke comes out of the exhaust. It doesn't happen when leaving normally. Also, if run hard, I'll notice smoke coming from the left manifold...thoughts??

Blue smoke is a sign of oil. Black is gas. glassman74
yeah usually burning oil, if you can rev your engine parked, and go behind and see oif it smells a little like burning oil, also sometimes (usually white smoke) you can burn anti-freze is your engine running hot?
is it running out of oil frequently?
if it does it on start-up,chances are its the valve seals, easily replaced at a very modest price. Just under hard accel..make me wonder if the rings are about at the stage to need replacement. Do a compression test, static and the other. That, above all else, will tell you the state of you engine innards. Yep,gray or blue smoke is always oil burning.By the way,if it just did it in decellaration mode, high vacum exist,so oil would be sucked past worn rings and /or valve seals.
