My 69 has a electic fuel pump at the tank which the previous owners mechanic had run into the mechanical pump, using it as a pressure regulator, causing the mechanical pump to fail on a regular basis.
I've since removed the mechanical pump from the mix and that works well now...
But I need a good recommendation on what the pressure regulator should be set to using the stock quadrajet.
Car also has a filter just after the pump at the tank location, AND a filter just prior to the carb (thinking that one should be eliminated). And then there's the filter IN the carb inlet (haven't checked)?

6-7psi
A Qjet will work with less but that depends on the needle/seat and float. 6-7psi, but thats the easy part. The hard part is that without a return/recirc line the fuel line is headed when the needle/seat close and hopefully the pump will recirc with the regulator set at 6-7psi. But sometimes the fuel line press reading gets goofy when -headed. And i'm not sure if u even have a press regulator in the line now?
Remove at least the inlet filter. And one good filter should be enough as 2 filters after the pump achive nothing more.

Just to confuse you!
My 74 service manual shows 7 to 8 & 1/2 psi for the stock pump with a return line. I have the mechanical pump with a return line and only the filter in the carb inlet. PG.
I have an Aeromotive Street and Strip electric fuel pump located near the fuel tank. The pump output goes through an Aeromotive canister fuel filter, located near the pump. I have a Holley fuel regulator mounted near the carb (a Holley). The fuel regulator comes on an aluminum bracket that makes up a regulator kit sold my Edelbrock. I dont' have a return line. I did install a fuel gauge just to keep an eye of the regulated output pressure. My carb still has the sintered bronze input filters. The regulator works fine...it's the Holley regulator that they've been making for the last 30 years or so.
I also have an Aeromotive regulator, but I'm saving it for another car. It's an $85 billet aluminum regulator...looks nice.
