Default 1969 speakers

I am in the process of replacing the radio and all wiring the my car once had. Where would I purchase speakers and any wire leads needed?

Is this for a stock replacement system or are you upgrading?

You can get OEM speakers from most of the aftermarket Corvette parts suppliers (Rik's, Midwest, Eckler's, etc), but the quality of sound will be no better than the original speakers could provide. Today's speakers are much better in terms of quality of sound reproduction and bass response. Try checking out some speakers at onlineccarstereo.com. You can find 4" x 6" replacements that will handle 30 watts or so [more than enough for stock radio]. You may need to add/modify the holes in the speaker frames so that they match the stock speaker retainers in the dash. Also, you need to buy two 4-ohm speakers [if it is a stock mono radio] or two 8-ohm speakers [if it is a stock stereo radio] in order to properly match the radio/amp output impedence of 10 ohms. The mono radio setup wires the two dash speakers in series so that two 4-ohm speakers will total to 8 ohms when hooked to the radio/amp. Decent quality 4x6 speakers should run you no more than about $60 for the pair. You can spend more, but you don't need to.
