Default C3 Door Digging - Help!!!

Can anyone direct me to a good source of data on digging in to my C3 (1977) doors? I want to replace the outside door handles, update my mirrors to sport mirrors, and replace the door locks but after taking off the door panels I am not certain where to start first. The door mechanisms look like taking the wrong bolt out first may lead to a nightmare. I'd like something that helps me know I can return from the hole I might be digging for myself when I do this work.
Any suggestions for reference data, diagrams, etc. would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance to any and all.

I have only this to offer. It's really not too complicated. The main latch is held in place by three screws from the jamb side. The handle / lock latch is held on with a few bolts, and the fulcrum is also only held in place by two fasteners.

The rods are all adjustable so you can easily remove them...just take pics before you do so you see how it all went together.

Durango_boy, a dumb but increasingly important question as I tried to remove the old locks and mirror brackets yesterday. I am assuming you have to take the window out of the door as well as all the mechanical for the door latch to get to the door lock, door handle and the mirror brackets on the 1977. No matter where I ran the window it was in the way for most all of the work I want to do. So forgive what may be a stupid question but am I right that I need to gut the door first? Thanks again for your help and or the help of any and all out there on this question.

No it can all be done with the window in. I replaced my locks and removed my handles with the windows in the up position. Something that helps is to unbolt the door latch from the bulk head, and let it sit lower int he door giving you more room to get your hands in there. Long tools like long needle nose pliers are also very helpful.

We managed to get the door locks in and the door back together with a little time and a lot of patience. Thanks for the advice, doors only need door panels at the end of the project to be completed now. Much left to do, but the doors are ready for plastic seal and panels.
