I have one I am going to put in my '69 soon (my Pertronix finally died!), and from all the locations people have used, the passenger side behind the dash seems to be the most ideal and easiest.
I mounted mine just inside the driver's side "gill" on the back of the wheel well. I did have to shoot it with some body matching paint to make it less noticeable when looking in the hole. It seems to stay cool, and it is close enough to easily change rev limiter pills.

I don't have a pic, but I mounted mine just behind the grill, visable thru the very front of the hood when it's open.
there was a nice spot, I made a plate to mount it there. Inside the passenger area, in front of the map pocket could cause some bother. The MSD box does make a bit of whine, or high pitch whistle. I want my box out in the open air as much as possible.
I got a piece of aluminum sheet metal, cut it with shears, and had 4 "L" brackets that I bolted all together to extend it away from the firewall. It also allows for shock support and was really easy.
You can see mine if you look up the gill. The mounting bolts come thru the wheel well. I used nut clips on the box, so you can unmount the box in 5 minutes and lift it into the engine bay to adjust the rev limiter if you need to, and it seems to get enough cooling air. The only downside is that you have to paint it to be less noticeable to anyone looking up the gill.

Reason: Wrong pic
I placed it high up on the inside of the passenger fender, tucked up almost out of sight but high enough to allow easy access for changing the pills if desired. It comes with rubber mounting bushings to avoid vibration problems. This location allowed me to hide the wires underneath the fender and route them in loom through the wiper area back out to the distributer.

If you have not bought it yet don't. The anolag 6al models are very unrealiable. I had heard this and then experenced it for myself when the one that came with my crate engine worked for 3 cranks and then nothing. I would recommend the Crane digital or now MSD has a digital unit. I mounted the MSD unit inside the wheel well but I had the engine out, it may be harder to put it in there with the engine in I know it was very hard to get it out after it failed. I mounted the Crane unit I replaced it with in the glove box but they will also fit in the wiper tray. Good luck
