Hey guys! Well I pulled all the belts and ran the motor and still had the same vibration. I carefully watched the balancer and it is running true. I also checked all of the bolts oon the bellhousing and they were tight.
I revved the motor to the vibration point and I can feel it by my right foot like it is coming from the back of the engine. I stopped by Harbor freight on the way home and picked up a transmission jack to hopefully make the job easier and faster.
I am going to be looking for stuck weights on the centerforce pressure plate. However, after reading the posts on here and looking in a few other places I am betting that the issue is going to be with an improperly indexed flywheel. For some reason I was thinking that it would only bolt on one way but evidently not.
So if I am looking at the flywheel how do I ensure it is indexed correctly if the crank does not have a dowl pin?
Went back through some of your posts and it reminded me of the problem that I had. I installed a South Bend kevlar clutch, pressure plate and flywheel. I didn't think to look for index marks on the pressure plate when I assembled it and had the EXACT same issue you are describing. I called South Bend and they told me the plate and flywheel were balanced as an assembly marked with red paint. I pulled the engine and found a barely visible spritz/mist where someone had dusted both parts with a spraycan. I re-clocked the pressure plate where it looked like the paint was and re-installed engine. The problem was gone. A huge lesson learned the hard way. Just a suggestion, hope it helps.

Thanks that does help. The only problem is my flywheel and PP were never balanced together. If it is not the weights on the PP that are the problem then maybe it is this and it was just luck that it did not vibrate with the first build. I may have to unbolt the PP and move it around some and then fire the engine with the transmission out. Then keep doing this till I get the PP in the right spot.

Thanks sly. Yeah the BH was indexed and corrected. I may have used the wrong term here. Several haver said that there is a dowl hole that the FW had to be centered on. I can't visually remember but I thought that the FW could only go on one way.
New question guys. What is the safest way to support the engine and start it with the trannie out? I am going to pull the clutch and PP and then loosely bolt the BH back on for safety and fire the engine. This should either pinpoint the clutch and \or PP or eliminate it as the problem.
i haven't read this entire post, so excuse if i'm repeating someone else. i don't know what engine you've got, but the 454 flywheels are externally balanced and are indexed as are the balancers.
I got the transmission out yesterday. I am going to pull the BH today and inspect everything and do my tests. Can anyone tell me exactly what the weights should look ike if they are getting stuck???
Also as a side not. I invested in a trannie jack from Harbor freight. OMG!!!! It was the easiest removal I have ever done!!!!. Supported the weight, removed the 4 bolts and rolled it right out!!! Well worth $69 and is also pretty well built!!! I highly recommend it...

If you can't figure out the balance issues with the flywheel and clutch, you may just want to take it somewhere to get them balanced as a set (or balance the flywheel, then add the clutch stuff and re-balance on the pressure plate). That should solve your problems.
