Just replaced the headlight switch on my 71', it worked for a while and then began to act up. I pull switch out, headlights pop up, lights are on for about 20 seconds then go off, come back on for a few seconds, then go off again, come back on for a few seconds then go off for good. Everything else associated with the switch works fine; side and front markers, tail lights, dash lights (dim and bright), signals, hazards, headlight dash warning light, and dimmer switch. I bypassed the dimmer switch and the headlights still act up. All wire connections are tight. QUESTION: Is there something in the light switch that could possibly be heating up and breaking the connection or is it just a bad NEW switch ? Appreciate any help or ideas...Thanks...Doug
There is nothing else added to the lighting system that is not supposed to be there.

Considering the obove posts I would have to vote for a bad switch. When you pull the dash back down plug the old switch back in and turn it on.If the old switch doesnt blow the breaker then get a new switch.(I have transferred the vacuum portion of the switch in some cases.)
