i have a holley 80508s 750 cfm. it's a vacuum secondary, and i'm not to happy with it. the car has 500hp. ,and 500 ft.lb. good lumpy cam. idles @ 950. i was thinking of a holley 4150 street hp, or a mighty demon. both are 750 cfm. both are double pumpers. don't care about fuel milage. looking for better throtle response. what say you????
Strong throttle response driving around on the street think
annular boosters, I have only had the old tech 4700 series
holley double pumpers not very adjustable antique 1960s/70s
boosters.
If I buy another carb it will have annular boosters, plus all the nice
4 corner idle, screw in air bleeds and some even have replaceable
idle restriction, imulsion tubes.
If you can live with an electric choke Quick Fuel has a double pumper street
750 with annular boosters, billet metering plates, changeable idle feed, changeable air bleeds, four corner idle, jet extensions. # QFT-SS-750AN ( AN = annular boosters ).
Believe holleys regular HP carb has an 830 cfm carb with annular boosters,
mighty demon with 850CFM annualar boosters.
How about a regular 830 HP annular booster holley if you want no choke air horn.

In general, throttle response can be improved by going to a smaller carb. Case in point is my Vette. Way back, we went from a 780 CFM Holley DP. throttle respose improved some. The went to a 650DP. Down low it would bark like an Outlaw Sprint Car, but ran out of ait at 5000RPM. Ended up with an 850. Bottom end was/is soggy, but it makes up for it in mid and top end power. I went thru this same exercise with a 350 in a Camaro-- It was real quick down low with the 650, soft with the 850, and felt really good with the 750.
