Locking gas cap?

Locking gas cap?

I went to begin the process of dropping the gas tank last night to hopefully find a build-sheet, and hit a snag right away. My gas cap is locking type and I could get the key in, but could not get it to turn. My question is "Did any originally come with a locking cap, if so which key should turn the lock" If not, any reason not to drill it out?

Could be but I doubt locking caps were an option. I have a locking cap on mine but it is aftermarket with its own key.

If you have the tank out you could remove the filler neck and push in the spring-locks on the inside to remove the cap instead of drilling.

They were aftermarket and had their own key not a GM key.
