Default HeaterBox & dumdum

I'm replacing my heater core in my 69 no AC and I’m trying to reseal around air shut off door not the shut off door it self but the side of the compartment that the air shut off door is attach to. Some other post talk about dum dum tape would this be good for inside of the heater box.
If so were do I get some. I went to 3 different auto shops and they did not seem to have any idea what I was talking about.

thanks

Looks to be Butyl tape.
Do you think that Butyl tape can stand up to all the heat?

Hi Ken,
I've aways thought that 'dumdum' was the 3M strip caulk #08578. It's black and comes in a box of 60, 1 foot strips. It was used to seal all kinds of things on our cars originally.
Regards,
Alan

I got my dum-dum at a body shop... My Napa store had it in stock but they wanted to sell me a 75 foot roll when I only needed about 3 feet. I'd just stop at any body shop and see if they won't just GIVE you a few feet. That's what happenend with me.
