Default looking for a project??

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cg...741664&r=0&t=0

with ***** of steel, and a little bit of money, this would be on its way to my house....but I don't have the money. :jester

Still has potential...I'll post it in the C1/C2 section too, maybe a guy over there is looking for a project.

The reserve on that is insane. As a project I don't think it is worth much more than the current bid.

I don't know how to view reserves..Im scared to click anything on ebay because Im scared I'll bid for it...

I think if you showed up to his house with cash, the reserve would become whatever was in your pocket.

I'm assuming that the reserve is not too far off from his "Buy It Now" price of 22,500. But, he could have set a reserve of 7500 for example, and set the buy it now price that high just in case some idiot with too much cash and not enough sense decides he has to have it

I'm pretty sure you can get a nice driver quality 65 smallblock convertible for somewhere around $30k - that car needs everything by the looks of it. :yesnod:

ahh I see...it seems like its one of those guys that finds the car in his backyard, and hears about all these "barn stories"...and doesn't want to be taken for a sucker. So he thinks he has a gold mine, and expects beyond top dollar for it.

Holy smokes! That looks less like a project and more like a career! At least you can tell the floors are still good by the standing water. What a horrible waste of what once was a nice car. :( :nonod:

daniel77350, entropy has taken over in this case and the energy (not to mention money) it would take to bring back order from chaos would greatly exceed the value of the vehicle restored.

It would have to be a labour of love as the cost/benefit analysis says "Don't walk away; RUN!"

In reading the text of the ebay posting, it appears this guy figures the vehicle retains a great deal of value despite it's horrid condition. Look closely at the pictures, daniel, and you'll see many flaws as well as evidence of tampering (ie: what's that switchplate below the steering column for?) and the seller admits the body had several 'small repairs' but his definition of 'small' won't match mine.

In order to restore this car, you'd need at least another 65 as a parts-mobile and/or a ton of cash and at the end of the road, you'll never re-coupe (sorry, bad pun) your losses. Vettes inspire we Forum types, otherwise we be here. Many say restoration isn't about money, it's about the car but anyone who has experienced a MONEY PIT will tell you my advice is sound.

The seller John317 is actually a big corvette parts seller on ebay. I have bought several small pieces from him and he was very reasonable on the price. Suprises me to this one from him.

We had a similar discussion on the post about the '76 with vacum and electrical problems... Maybe I'm just tired from my major overhaul but when I see cars in that condition... I think they would best serve the vette community by heading over to the junkyard and serving as a doner of other cars that have seen MUCH BETTER CARE over the years.

:yesnod: A matching numbers big block or fuelie in that condition may be worth the effort, but that car just doesn't seem to have enough going for it to make it a worthwhile project. That said, I'd love to see someone rescue it and get it back on the road. Since the original motor is gone, picture it with a custom paint job, GM 502 crate motor, custom interior, killer wheels...
