On my '69 the headlights and wiper door would open when starting the car, then after several seconds would close. I replaced the wiper door/headlight actuator relay that's located between the headlights at the front of the car. Now the headlights don't open when starting but the wiper door still does.
Where do I look now to solve that half of the problem?
With the engine running and headlights and wipers turned off pinch the small hose off going to the wiper door relay(do not remove it)and if after a few seconds the wiper door pops up then the relay is bad.
DW,
Your trouble shooting guides are always so clearly explained. Would you be willing to post much of what you know about the vacuum system in 1 post so people like me could save and print them? I really think it would be a great help to 68-72 owners. PLEASE!
Regards,
Alan

Thanks for the compliment.I have sat down a bunch of times and tried to put a guide together to post but there are so many variables that I keep coming up with that I give up.I have at least 4 word documents that are partially finished on vacuum for the 68-72.I've even considered putting together a plan for several temporary $3.00 one way valves from Advance Auto Parts to seperate the small hose trigger circuit from the large hose circuit and the headlights from the wipers to make it easier to isolate leak issues. At the present the entire system is connected which makes it very confusing.
I'm pretty comfortable with the vacuum system but not so good at taking whats in my head and putting it on paper.
