Default ???Housing Bracket in console

There is a bracket that the Heat/AC control unit mounts to in the console. What is it called and where can I find one...Have looked online and no one seems to display anything like it.

WIG,
WOW!!! A hard part to find. I see it in the AIM, UPC 1, Sheet M3. It's called out as 'housing assembly', but no part #. I think this means it came to St. Louis as part of a larger assembly from a supplier.
I have a picture of it, let me know if you need to see it.
I think you'll find it a Corvette dismantler, not a new parts vendor.
Regards,
Alan

I just realized I had uploaded the picture so I'm adding it. Hope this is what you're looking for.

Alan, is that a large metal bracket inside ypur console?
When I purchased my console, there were no metal pieces attached. Looks as though all of the light color parts are part of a bracket.

That is a stamped steel bracket which fits into the console; the a/c module screws onto it when re-assembling the console. They should be available from most C3 parts suppliers. Otherwise, try some auto salvage places. If you find a rusty one, you can easily clean it up with some steel wool.

I just went and looked at my '69, which is under perpetual restoration in the garage. The silver bracket in the picture is a separate piece which screws to the console at the front corners of the bracket. You can just see the left hole in the picture. I think the rear corners just float...

The only metal part in the console pictured is the silver rectangle. The light colored piece with the 2 J-nuts is plastic and part of the console. Note that my picture is of a non-air car so that metal bracket has the 2astro-vent control levers that I believe air cars don't have. I'd think a similar bracket would still be used in an air car, but I'm not sure. I've never seen that part in a catologue. So as 7t1 said, you're probably looking for a used one.

Alan

The picture of Alan’s console illustrates a car without a/c. The bracket with a/c did not have the levers which on a non ac car were used to control the fresh air. On a car with AC the levers were not needed since the fresh air was controlled by the vacuum controlled pod mounted in the right hand kick panel.
(I assume you have an a/c car from your description, “heater/ac control”)

This picture combined with the final assembled part from Alan may help you get a better understanding of what parts are missing.

We do have this bracket in stock used; it is not being produced as a reproduction part. On a car with factory air you can use either bracket as a replacement bracket since you can remove the levers if you do have air conditioning. If you can't find one, give us a call at 812-288-7103.
