Default Flash can dr. fender ??

What does the square flash can tucked under the drivers fender actually do. I installed a set of speakers the other day and in the process touch the back of the door pin. When I hit the door pin the can started to buss like a door chimey when I pressed the pin in it stoppped. which means it getting 12 + or - back fead into it from the door pin yet not the pass. dr pin. I dont want to assume this can has something to do with a alarm so I'm asking. If it is part of alarm control what other purpose does it serve?

That is the horn relay and key warning buzzer. If the key is in the ignition switch and you open the door, it buzzes.

[Wow! Alan, you picked up on that New York-ese a lot quicker than I did.] No offense meant, BB427... but I had no idea what a "door chimey" and a "buss" were. I think Alan nailed it. If your key was NOT in the ignition switch, then there is a problem with that circuit. If the key was in, then the circuit was working just as intended. There is another switch in the ignition that trips when the key is inserted; that [ground] signal is passed through the door jamb pin-switch; if the door is open, then that signal is sent to the horn relay (right inside fender well) which doubles as a reminder 'buzzer'.
