Default How much does your C3 WEIGH?

Have been curious about my car's weight for years. Finally put it on a scale yesterday. Results...

3,250 lbs (with 1/2 tank fuel, spare tire in place)

The car is a '68 convertible, big block, aluminum heads & intake, manual trans, very few options... no pwr brakes or windows, no pwr steering, no AC, no smog pump, only options were the 427, 4-spd, posi, tele-column, FM mono radio, redline tires, tinted windshield.
Anyone else out there know the actual weight of your C3? Curious the range. This one is likely on the light side, but a low option small block should be even lighter. And a well optioned '79 should be a plump cruiser.

I had mine on the scale at Raceway Park. It is a 77, small block (iron heads), auto, no A/C, no spare and with 1/2 tank of gas it weighed 3430.

My '72 vert weighed 3300 even and I"m not too pleased,

the car has been redone extensively with a eye to weight reduction not radical like some guys I just can't figger out why it's so heavy....

front grills/lights gone, serp drive, small compressor, alum/plastic rad, Spal fans, cross support, LT1 mani, L98 alum heads, headers, cut out hood, 200 4r auto, plastic rear spring....

and it's still 3300 lbs.....I gotta go find some helium to fill it with, get that weight outta there.....

Mine (the 69) was 3411 lbs. with a light fuel load and no spare tire/carrier- but that was before changing to aluminum heads, aluminum radiator, aluminum water pump, and dropping about 40 lbs. by changing to the Wilwood brake kit.

1975 coupe, 3380lbs. That was before the engine swap. With aluminum heads, probably about 3300lbs now.

1980 350SBC, Tremec 5 speed AND a Stingray emblem on the side (bite me )

3019 lbs. (little fuel in tank & w/o driver)

it seems like I have done so much towards weight reduction and yet, the car was only around 3200 when it left the factory.

3017 lbs with full fuel load. The car is not stock but does have iron heads and the big copper radiator. That weight was with the full exhaust system, now I'm running side pipes with empty side tubes most of the time so I expect it's lower now, hopefully less than 3000 lbs.

Oh, the t-tops were off as well.

3360 weighed on town scales with me in it and 1/2 tank of gas, with iron heads and stock rad. The way it is now without me in it and low on gas, less than 3100 lbs

My 73' sb weighed 3310 pounds when I bought it 21 years ago. stock A/C but no compressor, stock rear spring, copper radiator, iron heads, muncie, etc. I'm planning on weighing it again this fall. I have since added a fiberglass rear spring, Griffin aluminum radiator, Dart Pro1 Aluminum heads, 6-71 blower, Hot Rod Air, Hydra Boost, and pretty much all the other HP goodies except tranny and differential (soon). I'm hoping all the lighter parts will cancel out the weight of the blower. We'll see.

FYI,
621 HP and 600 TRQ (3.1 psi), 686 HP, and 662 TRQ (6.3 pst). I need different pulleys to optimize the tune. Expecting to be just shy of 750 hp, and 700 trq.

So far I've got the most portly car on the list. I'm not bragging.

Mine was 3250 with the spare, 1/2 tank and no A/C compressor a few years ago. Now it has the stock compressor, no spare, and an aluminum radiator so it may be a bit less. It's about time to recheck it.

My '78 weighed 3320 with probably a 1/2 tank of fuel but no driver. This was a few years ago so the configuration included: no spare tire, iron head small block, no A/C, AL radiator and a harness bar. I'm curious to know what my Vette weighs now as I have aluminum control arms, rear coil-overs, a ZZ4 with al. heads and I'll be adding an al. water pump shortly.

I'm impressed with 3250 for a big block as well as you guys at the 3000 lb level.

My 1980 is pretty much stock, (iron head small block, stock exhaust, ac) with no weight reduction mods, and it weighs 3240 lbs. with a 1/4 tank of fuel. In the future I will be replacing the stock exhaust with true dual exhaust with headers and no catalytic converter, aluminum heads, water pump and radiator, and weigh it again, to see how much weight was lost. Plus, I have replaced the rear spring with a composite spring since weighing. Beyond that, there doesn't seem to be a whole lot you can do to reduce weight without making some pretty radical mods/spending a whole heap o' money. My goal is to reduce weight to less that 3100 lbs. with a full tank.

I went to the county dump scales, and it weighed 3520 with me in it....I weigh 225 so 3300 lbs for the car....

I"m pissed, and think the county scales are rigged now....

with all these other reports especially from other chrome sharks coming in lower, when they apparently still have all this heavy stock crap on board, there is something drastically RONG, and there is NO freeking way there is more than 100 lbs of extrs weight from old custom body work on that thing....maybe 30 lbs if that....

I need locate another scale around here that gives legit weights for a change....

My '79 weighed 3600 lbs when new. I'm down to 3200 lbs with 1/4 tank of gas. I did the usual weight loss exercises plus a few that really made a difference:
wilwood brake calipers saved 44lbs
Removing the battering ram front air reservoir saved 60 lbs
Removing the rear batering ram bumper bar saved 40 lbs.
fiberglass rear spring saved 20lbs.

The '80-82s were 300 lbs lighter due to thiner glass, thinner fiberglass, fiberglass rear spring, and aluminum rear end. I hope to lose more weight by using the 80-82 aluminum bat wing. I wish somone would make a pexi glass rear window.

Where is Panic, he is ruthless at cutting weight on a street driven car.

I still need to find out where I'm at on weight!
I was shooting for 2800lbs (Empty)No spare,no air,one piece front,no inners,no bumpers or bracing.Aluminum suspension w/composite mono's front/rear.(C-4)sbc,mini starter.
No big exhaust system,short dumps,aluminum intake +turbo's/piping.
No brake booster,(willwood pedal and masters)no carpet or sound barrier.Do you think I'm getting close yet?Have I passed it?

Any guesses?
