Makes no difference - vacuum doesn't have any impact on Dwell or vice versa.

You are thinking about setting the timing where you disconnect the vacuum line at the vacuum advance and plug the line. For years I have kept a couple golf tees just for this purpose.

Of course, remember to set the dwell (28-32) before setting the timing since a change in dwell will affect timing.

I just did the points and dwell in my 68 BB yesterday. Every time I do it it reminds me why they tossed the shielding back in the old days. It sure looks pretty but is a real pain in the a$$ for routine maintenance.

Yes I will definitely be there. I live in Sandwich about 4 miles from the Heritage. I will bring my LeMAns Blue big block. Plate says "RAT 427". If you come, stop by and say hello

Trying to cut out of a family reunion early over in Wings Neck. Used to do the Pontiac Oakland Club shows over there when i lived back north. Always good shows. Will look out for ya.

I have a plainjane sparkplug wire with my timing light, and I just change the #1 wire when I set timing so I don't have to mess with the braided wires.

i just put the timing light hookup up by the distributor cap on the number 1 plug where the braided shielding ends. No problem
