Default I was getting bored...

I can't find anything else that my car needs so I decided to start detailing underneath. Ever try to wash down the bottom of a car two feet above your head with a towel soaked in varsol? It sure feels good running down your arms to your armpits....well I guess I said I was bored.

Since the car lived all its life in a very gentle climate (San Diego) It was fairly clean. It still required a quite a bit of elbow grease in places. I can tell you one thing that side exhausts sure makes it a lot easier to clean underneath.

Great looking job binnie:) what is the # the factory wrote on the passenger floor pan you can see in the picture. I know awhile back that Juliet was asking people with 70 cars so they could use it for some NCRS stuff. Mine is still legible so iI could compare FWIW.

The number is 389. There are also some numbers witten in yellow on the frame rails as well. I should grab those as well.

Varsol is a common solvent used for cleaning engine parts and degreasing. Is Varsol a Canadian trade product? I assumed it was common everywhere.

I have never heard of it, but I work for a Canadian Company, I'll find out the details on it when I go back to work on Monday. Looking Good!

OK Tom..here goes..Oh Yeah your side pipes ..awesome
Both sections are built identical. The ramps are 10'9" in length. You can construct them from 2"x10" or 2"x12". In this set I used 2"x10" and then nailed a couple of lengths of 1"x6" on each side on the bottom to give some extra lateral support. The top and bottom are 2"x10" with 2"X10" uprights on 16" centers. You will need 2 sheets of 1/2" plywood or waferboard for the sides. Cut each sheet of plywood into 3 strips 16" wide. It will take one sheet per ramp. Use 2 1/2" spiral nails on the side pieces. Use 3 1/2" spiral on the framework. On the ends where the car comes up, spike another piece of 2" x 10" to support the planks for driving the car up on. These 2 planks only need to be about 7' long with a couple supports under them. With that short a length my side pipes still clear fine. I am going to mount a couple of permanent lights and a 110v receptacle on the inner sides of the supports. If you have a good level floor they will be very stable and will support a bulldozer.
