Has anyone out there changed an 82 CFI or different type engine to a different type fuel injection system. I am concerned about hood clearance that might be a problem. If any has done this could you please share your experience with me.
If you decide to go with Vortec heads and Vortec fuel injection I have a complete Vortec manifold complete with TB and injector system, both upper and lower manifolds and all the manifold accessories.
This site has been around for a long time now. Maybe this can help.
Otherwise I have read that some folks that have done 82 conversions to other intake set-ups, wheather carbed or EFI, have to cut out the cold air inlet tube on the underside of the 82 hood.
This is a old but good article. I'm not sure if I want to start cutting on the hood. I was told the 1986 - 1992 GM TPI unit should work, but it sounds to be that would require mods on the hood.
Another thought I had was to see if someone offered an aftermarket ECM & wiring harness to simplify the CFI modification. I really don't hate the hardware that GM installed, just the poor engine management system.
