I bought a 70 convertible that had been "modified" by the last owner. it was an Original Blue/ Bright Blue (code 41, I think) interior car that the previous owner changed out to all black interior. I need to order a new soft top and was thinking of going white. Even though it is not the "original" color combination, I want to have a look that "could" have been ordered from Gm. Was it possible to get a Blue exterior, Black interior, and a white top? Or does Black Interior mean that a Black top was standard? Thanks in advance for the help.
Hi Donnie,
The NCRS Judging guide says that Black, White, and Tan tops were available. It doesn't say whether a certain color top could only be ordered with certain exterior colors. I'd think you could choose what you'd like.
Too bad the Trim Tag only indicates exterior and interior colors, not top colors.
Regards,
Alan
I am also thinking of replacing my rag top. I presently have a white top on a 1970 Daytona Yellow car. I was thinking about a tan top. Does anyone have a photo that they could post with that color combination?
The "Black Book" shows that all exterior colors in 1970 came with either black, white, or beige tops. Some of those combinations would be downright ugly but I guess that's the way it was.
I don't see a code 41 blue, only Mulsanne Blue (976) or Bridgehampton Blue (979).
as we always say, it's your car, do what you want... and it seems that your proposal may well have been offered. i must say though that in my opinion, black interior and white top mix just about as well as vodka and milk . and even thought it could be oem, i don't think that it will LOOK oem, if ya' know what i mean.
also something to consider.... white tops are way harder to keep looking pristene
Thanks. Mine is the Darker (Bridgehampton) Blue, but I think It will look Ok. I just think that the Darker Blue with Black interior and a Black top would look too dark. I'm gonna get the white top and I'll post pics in a few weeks when it's done. Thanks all.

"Al Knoch Interiors" at 1 800 880 8080 will make any color you want. They also offer a 'sail cloth' material that looks and fits very good. They are the manufacturers of most of the Corvette soft tops..
