You guys that are running TH350s what rear end gearing are you running? I have 3.70. Not looking to race my 68 (327 maybe 300+ HP) but was woundering what you think of your car at highway speeds.
im running 355 gears with a Th350 in an 81 with 3000 stall. i wouldnt want anything more than that. on the highway at cruise speed im sitting at about 3000rpm but thats ok cause it doesnt see the open roads often.
You really don't need that 'steep' of a gear for an automatic tranny. The converter provides some torque multiplication at lower rpm's, so you don't need that much gear. Without a lockup converter, you probably don't want anything lower than 3.36 or maybe 3.23...somewhere in that range for decent performance off the line and also not 'wound up tighter than a two-dollar clock' at highway speeds. I have the stock 3.08 with my THM400 and would still love to have the overdrive feature.

its not a matter of 'need'......its a matter of 'want'.
