Those look like the basic mufflers that came with my original small block set from Hooker.

I didn't see anything on those being inserts.
They do sound great tho.

That IS the type/tone of sound I'm looking for.

No, they're not designed as sidepipe inserts, but they have a 4" diameter and with some fab work.........

LMAO!! Almost 3 Times the horse power!!

I just got this reply under the General section:
I posted:
"I think I'm going with the sweet thunders...
Only thing left is 2", 2.25" or 2.5"?
With a stock 350 should I just get the 2"?"

And got:
"with sweet thunders and your stock setup you still might set off a few car alarms going down the street. "

Is this a valid statement?
I'm not looking to sound like I should be at New England Dragway!
I just want some rumble.
I had a Gibson system on my GMC and loved the sound.

I think I'm going to try the 2" Thunder inserts and go from there.

A chambered pipe (like the Sweet Thunders are) will be the louder of the insert choices out there, particularly the larger diameter versions

My T&L Engines 454 c.i. small block with 572 h.p./585 ft. lbs. tq. is going in this fall. I'm looking at these from Classic Chambered in the 3" I.D. version for my vette (part # 3030-IN):

I think you guys just like messin' with the NEWB!!!

So the Max Flows should have a slightly more muffled tone to them because of the packing?
The packing would wear/burn out after time.
Are the Max Flow re-packable?

they are a strait through design and i wish i had a video or sound clip but my engine is out right now but if you want your car to sound like a big block thats the way to go, IMO its loud but tolerable, im actually taking them out and running strait side exhaust because i like to **** off everyone

Those are the ones on ebay.
Going to buy them right now.
If I don't like them then I'll move on to the Thunders or CC's next.

I just installed Max Flows on my '81 this past weekend. Sound is very good....but its still loud. With our Camry sitting next to the '81 and starting the '81, set the alarm off in the Camry.

Wife and I took a short street drive with T-tops out and windows down and we could hear the radio and have a conservation just fine. Now with the widows up and tops back in....might be a different story, but doubt that we will drive the car that much that way.

Wife think the Max Flows sound great!...of course the first time we started the car, we had no mufflers at all....WOW...was that ever loud!!! But they sound very good...but they are not quiet.

Got the Max Flows for Performance Curve off of ebay...just about the best price at $155 + $15 shipping. Amazon.com shows a price of $138 + ?? shipping but with a 3-5 week(not day) shipping. Performance does not have stock and they ship from Hooker. Shipping time is two weeks.
