Default Side pipe muffler inserts

Ok, first here's my car.

Hooker headers and side pipes.
I'm looking for new muffler inserts because the ones that are in them are way too quiet.

I've read a few threads on side pipe mufflers and I don't think any of them give straight forward answers.
I'm looking for info on the max flo's. Are they really too loud? I'm looking for some rumble, but I'm not looking to go deaf on a long ride.
Should I start a thread under the "C3 General" section or the "C3 Tech/Performance" section. I'd like to purchase these as soon as possible.

I found these on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...295501367&rd=1

Is there a dealer any of you would suggest that would come close to that price?

Thanks

The ebay link wouldn't open for me, but I'm very, very happy with the JCL spiral turbo baffles.

Spiral baffels Had the Max Flows for one day. They sound awsome at idle but at highway speeds, they will make your ears bleed. Remember that with sidepipes, the exhaust exits just aft of the door, which about lines up with your ear.

I havent used the spirals out and I havent heard them either but I have a pair of "Sweet thunder" inserts that people enjoy very well. They sound great but they're not horrible to listen to for a long time IMO

Baffles all the way. They are the best if you like your horsepower, and the sound is tunable by drilling or removing the endcap.

Ok I can't seem to find anything on JCL.

True, so has anyone heard them both live?
Do the JCL and STS sound the same?
Are they just different brands?
I like just low deep tone, like an old wood boat with pipes on the waterline.

JCL is the inventor, Jim Laughlin, of the baffles in the picture.

Missed the opening, I guess that 427 makes it sound deeper in tone.

My other concern would be the "tinny" sound that several members have mentioned.

Are the max flos louder?

You have to be careful comparing sounds. Every engine is going to sound different. Cam, compression and everything else is going to contribute to the sound. I have a 502 behind the baffles and believe me, they don't sound tinny. I am running them without end caps as well. I have also heard them on a buddy of mine's small block. They are raspier than mine but definitely not tinny. In fact, his car sounds better than mine. He is not running end caps either. JCL and STS are the same. Jim is one of the good guys as well.
