New Valve Covers
I need to replace the gaskets on a 74 350 and it has been suggested that I should consider some more ridgid covers. I would appreciate your recommendations. Thanks

These valve covers always look good on a
Shark Car ... They are often for sale in the C3 Parts for Sale section and frequently at reasonable prices.
You can also pick them up from most of the
Forum vendors for about $250.

Good luck...

The stock stamped valve covers will seal fine... IF you make sure the sealing surface (rail) is nice and flat and you use a composition gasket...like a Fel-Pro type. Most stamped covers leak because the bolts have been overtorqued [in an attempt to make them seal better] and the seal surface is deformed around the bolt holes. Put the cover on a flat, hard surface and use a piece of steel with a flat end to smooth out the 'lumps and bumps' on the gasketed surface.
