the guy I bought the 70 Vette from, converted the taillights to all be the same. He changed to double element bulbs and switched it to all red lenses. So I have 4 running lights, 4 brake lights, and 4 turn signals. I want it to go back to original and want to make sure I understand how they were.
I assume that the outer two lamps were double element bulbs that were running lights, Brake lights, and turn signals . And the inside two (with the white centers) were reverse lights only and single element bulbs that ONLY came on in reverse (not running lights or turn signals). Which means if you have the brake pressed and the turn signal on, One taillight is on, and the other one is flashing; nothing else lit. Is that correct?
Yes, you are correct, I know this because I just converted my 70 LT-1 to 4 working tail lights for "Cammie Chen" to see while she is driving down the freeway texting in her Camry.
Questions...what are you doing with the old lenses? Can I call dibs?
Will do an even swap for some with the white centers
actually, I planned to keep them in case I ever busted an outside lens. I'm a packrat with a lot of garage space. I've had the Vette about a month and a half and it's funny the things i'm keeping in an "original" box even though it's pretty beat up as I replace them with new replacement parts. I keep saying, "maybe I'll eventually need that broken fiber optic harness in the future..." I need help.
Hi Drizzle,
You're doing the right thing by saving anything that you even THINK might be an original part. You just never know when or why you may want it.
Regards,
Alan
PS: I've saved the original factory air in my spare tire.
