Default Carb Question

I found on our 78 there is a push button type switch on the drivers side of the carb it look like it should be actuated when the throttle is closed. But the throttle does not touch the switch. Is this something that needs to be fixed and what is that switch for?

Thanks
Tony

Sounds like electronic kickdown. Is it a four-speed or automagic?

Shoot us a picture.

Maybe it's the A/C solenoid. When the A/C is on it bumps up the idle to compensate for the drag the A/C compressor puts on the motor, so it won't stall at idle. Turn on the A/C and see if it extends.

Default ac

Thats for the ac when you turn on the ac it jumps up the idle If its a L48 500 rpm in gear and 600 rpm in gear with the ac on The brass bolt head can be ajusted in or out like a bolt

Chris is right...that switch is for your A/C. With the A/C off the plunger should not touch the accelerator. Turn the A/C on and adust the switch to maintain your idle under load from the compressor.
