If you take all the screws out of the LH dash pad and the two bolts out of the steering column you can pull the LH side of the dash out and have a little room to get the switch out. Do not pull the dash out any more than is needed as the wiring is hooked to the dash pad.

But it only takes a couple min. to remove ALL the screws across the front of the dash leaving the 2 inside the door jamb holding the right side dash.Removing the extra screws will allow enough flex to make things easier and hopefully not break the center cluster frame.
