Default Brodix ik180

I have a 79 Vette, anyone have these heads Brodix ik180's ? Good, bad, comments ect. Are they direct replacements, like unbolt the smog heads, ac, alternator and hooker headers and bolt on the Brodix, headers ect. and go? I did not see a temperature sending unit? Thanks, Al

I have the IK 200's (larger version of the 180) on my 383, no problems so far. All the accessary bolt holes I needed are there, but there was no place for a sending unit, so I had to put it in the intake manifold. Headers, intake bolted up fine, no issues

Looked at pics of your 68. Very Nice!
Seems you have low "base engine" OE hood in pics.
  • Very interested to learn following components you use along w/ low hood & IK200?:
  1. what intake manifold?
  2. what intake gasket?
  3. what carb?
  4. what air cleaner assembly?

Thanks for the good word
Yes, it's the small block hood, and the fit is tight

1. I am using the Edelbrock RPM air gap manifold. When I installed it, I did the clay test and came up with 1/8 clearance between the air cleaner and the hood. However I've noticed the paint rubbed off the bottom of the hood at the point corresponding with the highest part of the air cleaner. Likely under hard acceleration.
Also I e-mailed Brodix about the best intake for these heads, they said the RPM is fine, no advantage over using one of thiers.

2. 1206 Fel-Pro

3. Holley 650 vacuum secondary

4. Drop base GM style air cleaner I picked up at a swap meet. Pretty sure it's a 2" drop, I can check and get back to you

Hope I've helped

I have the ik200's too on my stroker......i like them alot....only negative thing was one of the holes for the intake wasn't fully tapped. No big deal just ran a tap through it. other than that I'm pleased. a good set of heads at a good price.

Just curious if you guys ended up porting your intakes to match the big ports on the IK200s? The Edelbrock RPM runners are much smaller than the 1206 gaskets which the IK200s call for?

I went ahead and used the 1206 gasket brodix calls for and built it up with the RPM. The way I looked at it I'll be playing with the motor more (roller setup) once I get the car in ever day driving shape.* So I figured i'd play with porting (heads, intake) down the road.

Default IK-180's

I have IK-180's and like them very much. I tried the 200's but they would not fit my intake which at the time was a Performer intake. I exchanged them for the 180's because I couldn't find a dual plane intake that would fit under my hood and several guys advised that the 200's were a little too much for my motor. I'm happy with the performance and have been running them for a couple of years now.

Temp sending unit is right behind the gooseneck.

I put a set of the IK 180's on last year on a base 327 at the same time I put in the sidepipes. Didnt dyno it, but the Seat of pants response is very nice, I notice more bottom end, and good pull untill I run out of cam. I am running the stock intake, carb set up and air cleaner (drop base), but have my eyes on an edebrock aluminum unit that I mean to sawp out with, I am very pleased with this product, and the 180's are more that enough for than cam I plan to swap in.
