69 4 speed vette here...
I am starting to feel the gears chatter while shifting into reverse. The clutch is adjusted to the max. I am seeing usual signs to replace the clutch.
Originally a big block car now has a GM crate HT 502 motor that puts out close to 400 HPs.
While I am preparing for my next big adventure, I have a couple of questions to folks who have been through this.
1) What brand/type of clutch would you recommend?
2) Have any of you documented your clutch change project on the forum? I have tried searching without much success.

Sounds like clutch is not disengaging. This doesnt mean the clutch is worn out.If your clutch adjustment is adjusted all the way out to the end of the rod start looking for linkage problems.First look at both ends of the Z bar....make sure the ball stud is not backing out of the block.
Alright.. a very basic question
Can the transmission be pulled out from under the car by removing the drive shaft?
(I hope the engine does not have to be pulled out to replace the clutch)
..correct?
Hi RJD,
Yes, the engine stays where it is; the transmission can be pulled far enough to the rear once the drive shaft is removed to drop the front of the trans down in order to change the clutch. The shifter linkage needs to be loosened since the shifter is mounted on the transmission cross member.
Not too bad a job. Good Luck!!

Alan
