72 350 base motor ............oil pressure line weeps but doesn't spill over
probably needs to be tweeked with a wrench but I cant seem to get one in that tight spot
I have seen those leak a lot. Usually the fitting was replaced a few times before it stopped, and yes, a stubby wrench with the end cut off was the only way to get in there and turn it. I think a Crow's foot worked too but that was after it had been done a few times.
The best way I have found to fix it is replace all 3 pieces and buy them as a kit.
Replace the fitting in the block and the ferrel and nut. Probably one or all 3 are dinged up. No it should not leak. Most do though after a number of years.
As you tighten, the ferrel will go deeper into the plastic line.Sometimes it will cut it,be prepared with new parts. One little tighten could ruin a planned outing that day.

My gauge line broke under the hood and I lost 3 quarts of oil before I knew what was happening. That would have been a hell of a mess if it had happened in the interior. Some guys have filled their stereos with motor oil when the plastic line broke inside.
For piece of mind, I replaced that POS plastic tube with a nitrous oxide hose from a speed shop. Less than $30. You might also do a search on the forum. Someone linked to a kit with a stainless braided hose like the nitrous hoses but it comes complete with all the fittings. I had to come up with the fittings on my own.

DC
Thats a great idea must look nice and clean........and It's safer than that plastic line.
thats something I am going to do when I do my stereo over
Don't give up on the plastic. There are some plastic lines that are just crap.I used to buy only from NAPA but have found on occasion their lines are brittle maybe because their old.Take your side cutters and pull the end out of the package and slowly cut the end and twist it around. If its crap it will cut easily. If its good stuff it will resist cutting,it will be tough and sorta rubbery.Good stuff will stretch also.Hope that makes sense.(not knocking the braided lines)
The nylon line is pretty tough. The problem with a copper tube is the vibration (pulsing) of the oil pump will work-harden the line and it'll crack. If you do go with a hard line of some type, be sure and make some coils in the line for vibration damping.
My gauge line broke and I lost an engine
Anyways, buy the kit and you'll be all set.

I use AN -4 from the engine up to a bulkhead fitting on my firewall. Inside the car I either use more AN line or 1/8" copper tubing, depending on whether or not I expect to have to disturb the line regularly or not.
